About Odisha Chatra Protsahan Yojana 2021

The Government of Odisha launched Odisha Chatra Protsahan Yojana. This scheme will award 320 class 10th graduates (200 students securing 60% at SSD High Schools and 120 students securing 70% at EMRS) to meritorious students from scheduled tribes or castes. They will receive two years of professional coaching and training to help them succeed in their competitive exams for engineering and medical courses. Multiple reputable coaching institutions will be shortlisted to provide coaching to the beneficiaries’ students. A screening test will be required to determine the most meritorious students. The candidate will be eligible for coaching based on the results of this screening test.

The 9:1 ratio will be maintained for the selection of students from scheduled tribes and scheduled castes. Regular evaluations of knowledge and learning will be conducted by the government. Students will be able improve their fundamental concepts and prepare to take exams through this program without having to interrupt their regular studies.

Opening Of Seven Centre Of Excellence

The Government of Odisha introduced Chatra Protsahan Yajana on 4 October 2021. This scheme will provide free coaching for scheduled caste and scheduled tribes students to prepare them for engineering and medical entrance exams. 7 centers of excellence for SC and ST education will be opened by the Odisha government’s SC and ST development department. Each year, 320 students will be selected to receive free education through these schools. These centers will help students in Higher Secondary schools to pursue higher education. This program will help identify and nurture students of the Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Castes from an early age to pursue higher education in Engineering and Medical Sciences.

Distribution of Tablets

Students will be selected based on class 10th merit. The students who have completed Matric will then be invited to take a selection test. An agreement has been made with several coaching agencies to offer onsite medical and engineering coaching, as well as preparatory training for selected students. Dr Amar Patnaik, a member of parliament for this scheme, handed 200 tablets of MPLAD money to the students who are enrolled in the program during the inauguration ceremony.

Odisha Chatra Protsahan Yajana‘s main purpose is to motivate students of scheduled caste or scheduled tribe to pursue higher education in the fields of Engineering and Medical. This scheme will provide free coaching to 10th-passing students in order to crack the Engineering and Medical entrance exams. This scheme will help students from scheduled tribes and castes to identify their potential and be nurtured early. Students will also develop a competitive spirit and a desire to succeed. This will also improve the quality of life for students.

A shortlist of reputable institutions will offer coaching to eligible students according to their course design and regular program. The nodal division will ensure that selected students continue their education in a residential setting in Higher Secondary School. These urban centers are served as the catchment area. The School will also provide guidance and academic support to students.

Scope of Work Under Chatra Protsahan Yojana

  • A training agency can offer coaching classes for meritorious students, but only for the duration specified in the contract
  • This includes the provision of study materials and other requirements
  • The contract will mention the location where the coaching programs will take place
  • The training agency will conduct the entrance exam
  • Final scrutiny will take place and the results of the selected student will be declared together with the answer and question sheets.

  • Admission to any college should be granted to 10% of students
  • Any medical college should admit at least 10% of students from the biology stream
  • 10% of students should be admitted to BAMS, BHMS and BDS.
