NEW DELHI: The Delhi authorities has launched Rs 18.75 crore as grant-in-aid for cost of salaries to workers of 12 Delhi College (DU) schools funded by it. The grant-in-aid was launched on Thursday and the federal government stated it was just for cost of salaries.

The Delhi College Lecturers’ Affiliation (DUTA) stated the grant launched was “insufficient”.

“DUTA will proceed to pursue the matter. In the meantime, grants must be put to make use of as shortly as the universities obtain them and salaries must be disbursed,” it stated.

There was a standoff between the Delhi authorities and the DU adminstration over the difficulty of formation of governing our bodies in schools partially or totally funded by the previous. The federal government had stated that it could not launch funds to schools with out governing our bodies.

Final month, the DUTA had referred to as for a day-long starvation strike to protest in opposition to the non-payment of salaries to workers of schools funded by the Delhi authorities.
