Judiciary is the most important and third pillar of Democracy. Being a Judge, a person needs to be impartial and honest while giving justice. The Indian Constitution has ensured the independence of the judiciary. The legislature is not at all involved in the process of appointing judges. In order to be appointed as a judge, a person has to be worked as a lawyer.



The Madhya Pradesh Judicial Service Examination or the MPCJ Examination is conducted by the Madhya Pradesh High Court. This exam is conducted to recruit suitable candidates for the posts of Civil Judge Grade II or Judicial Magistrate First Class.
The official notification of MP Judicial Services Exam releases on the website of the Madhya Pradesh High Court https://mphc.gov.in/ and also on the MP state public service commission website in case the exam is organized by the MPPSC.
The examination consists of three stages viz.
- Preliminary Examination – Objective type
- Mains Exam – Descriptive
- Interview – Face to face interaction
A candidate will be able to appear for the mains examination after qualifying preliminary examination. The candidates who are successful in this test will be eligible for the Viva-Voce Test which is then the final round of interviews or face to face interaction with an examiner.

Eligibility Criteria for the Post of Civil Judge
Age: Lower limit- 21 years; Upper limit – 35 years.
Age relaxation
OBC category – 3 years
SC and ST category – 5 years
Educational Qualification: Candidate should have completed a Law Degree (LLB) of 3-5 years from any Institute recognized by the Bar council, government of India.
General Requirements:
- He/she must be a citizen Of India.
- He/she must not be insane or defaulter.
- Possess sound health, with a good moral character.
- He must not be linked with any criminal case involving moral descent.
If a candidate fulfills all these requirements then he/she will be able to apply for the post of civil judge.
