  • Student's Queries
    What is SSC ?
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is an organization under Government of India to recruit staff for various posts in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and in Subordinate Offices us departments like excise, income tax, bureau of investigation and many SSC generally conducts exam for most B and C grade government jobs to apply you must be a graduate or in the final year of graduation. You can get a job of gazetted officer. Eligibility criteria for this depends on type of exams as it conduct many exams.
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is a board that conducts various exams every year to recruit candidates for various positions in various government organisations all over the country. Some of the exams that SSC conducts are CHSL (for the post of LDC, DEO), CGL (for graduate student for various Group B and Group C) and many more. SSC CGL and SSC CHSL are the most popular competitive exams in India. Every year a large number of candidates give this exam, but very few of them qualify the exam.
How to clear SSC Exam ?

Many students have question that how to crack SSC exams in first attempt?

The first thing that you have to kept in mind is that cracking SSC exam is not an easy task, most of the student that qualifies the exams are repeaters (i.e. they have given the exam before also) so if you want to crack the exam in your very first attempt then you really have to work hard, and also have to follow a proper plan regarding your studies. So make a plan and start preparing for the exam.

Now here comes the most important thing that all the candidates who are giving their first attempt should have to know.

Most of the SSC exams contain these 4 sections

    • Quantitative Aptitude
    • English Comprehension
    • Reasoning and
    • General Awareness

A few tips that you should follow for preparation of each section.

    Quantitative Aptitude:

This section is one of the easiest sections for those who love it but for some it’s a nightmare and created problem at each and every step. To score well in this section you need to practice lot of short tricks, because solving questions is another part but solving a question in that time interval is the thing that matters most. And apart from learning short tricks learn the formulas are also try to remember the tables, squares, square root, cubes and cube root of numbers.

    English Comprehension:

It is one of the sections which can either make you or break you, it is one of the section in which most of the students find difficult to score. This section includes questions like comprehension passage antonyms, synonyms; fill in the blanks, error detection, idiom phrases and many more. To score well in this section try to read English newspaper daily. Reading newspaper daily will not only improve your English but also keep you updated of the latest news which will help you in the general awareness section.

Reasoning is one of the easiest sections of the paper. In this section with very little efforts you will be able to score good marks. This is the section which will help you to be in the competition, this section contains questions like number or alphabet series, mirror or water image, paper folding matrices etc.

    General Awareness:

It is one of the section in which most candidates fails to score good. In this section any score close to 60-70%would be consider good. To score good in this section try to read about Indian history, geography various constitutionals acts, and dont forget to read about science if you want a good score in this section because most of the questions of this section are from science.

How the previous year papers are helpful in ssc exam prepration?
The biggest (and somewhat bad) truth with SSC is that SSC does repeat questions and that too in all sections (reasoning, maths, English and general awareness). Do have a look at the last 4-5 year question papers of SSC CHSL exams and you will find out that, there are around 2-3 questions in each section which are repeated every time. It is therefore important to solve previous year's papers.

By previous year paper you will get an idea of the Difficulty Level. Before starting preparation for an examination, you must be well versed with the difficulty level of the questions asked in that particular examination. Previous years papers are the best source to get an idea regarding that since they are the most authentic source available.

What are the points student should keep in mind while preparing for ssc exam?
Too much preference to individual section:

The biggest mistake that most of the candidate make is giving too much preference to some section. They have to know that each section carry equal marks and you have to score in each section to crack the exam

    Remembering only short tricks:

Another mistake that many candidates make is that they rely too much on short trick, and ignore the basics of that topic and when in exam the question is modified they fails to answer, so learn short trick but dont ignore the basics of that topic.

    Practicing offline:

Many students practice only offline and thus they find it hard to deal with technical stuff at the time of exam.

    Not making short notes:

Making short notes of short tricks, formulas, English rules, and some general awareness will help you to revise in very less time, prepare short note according to your strengths and weakness.
